Since 1990, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nice displays more than 1,400 works of art dating from the 1950s to the present day and hosts about a hundred events each year (conferences, concerts, performances, etc.).

The museum is divided into two collections: one permanent and one temporary. The permanent collection is dedicated to two major artists of the 20th century: Nikki de Saint Phalle and Yves Klein.

Nikki de Saint Phalle is particularly known for her "Nanas", colorful feminine sculptures representing women who were impossible to see in the medias and on the runways at the time.

As for Yves Klein, he can be considered one of the pioneers of contemporary art. He is a versatile artist who expresses himself through painting, craft, sculpture, photography, video and also through performance. He is particularly known for his intense blue artworks, which you can find at the MAMAC in Nice!

Ammi’s advice: Don't forget to head to the rooftop terrace for a 360° view of the city!
